The 2008 ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) has become a triumph of Russian university students. The Russian teams won the world championship, two gold medals, a silver and two bronze—five out of twelve medals in the ICPC 2008 World Finals held in Banff, Alberta, Canada, April 6-10, 2008.

Alexis Sukharev, Auriga’s President and founder, was invited by the Department of Trade and Industry of the Philippines to speak on what makes Central and Eastern Europe unique and especially attractive as an IT outsourcing destination. The invitation noted “the progress Auriga has made over the years to be recognized in the Global Services 100 list of top companies” and stated that “Auriga is truly one of the Centers of Excellence Organizations.”

Auriga continues to train India’s IT force by presenting two new training courses in India in association with the International Institute of Information Technology (I2IT). Last year Auriga announced its first training initiative in India: in cooperation with I2IT, Auriga provided the “Linux Kernel Programming” course. The training became a unique example of software engineering knowledge exchange between the Russian and Indian IT industries. Following positive feedback from the course participants, Auriga’s leading experts in Linux and embedded systems development presented two further training programs on “Linux Kernel Programming Fundamentals” and “Advanced Linux Kernel Programming” early in December this year.

In November, Alexis Sukharev participated in a unique event organized in Hyderabad, India by Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, and Tata Consultancy Services. “Innovation in Emerging Economies: China India Russia 2007” became a premier convention that placed in sharp focus the new picture that is emerging of China, India and Russia, as the potential innovation powerhouses that can tip the technology balance in the near future.
