Taking the Pulse of Russia's Technology Opportunities for US Businesses

AMHERST, NH — Auriga Inc., an Amherst-based IT consultancy with a well-established software engineering operation in Russia, will join in the effort to boost U.S.-Russia bilateral business and technology cooperation at the seminar on "Russian Science & Technology Opportunities for U.S. Business" to be held in conjunction with the CeBIT America Information and Communications Technology Trade Fair on June 18-20, 2003 in New York City, NY.

This event marks the first Russian Technology Program at the U.S. Trade Show. It is organized by The Mid-Atlantic - Russia Business Council (MARBC) and the U.S. Department of State in association with BISNIS, a unit of the U.S. Department of Commerce, The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation, The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, The Moscow Entrepreneurs Association, Global Business Roundtable and the World Trade Centers Association.

Slav Lerner, Director of Client Relationship at Auriga, will make a presentation on "Mitigating Risks in Offshore Outsourcing" at the seminar’s telecommunications panel. Slav will provide an insight into the critical strategies needed to ensure a successful offshore engagement. Offshore outsourcing may present risks and challenges, but if properly understood and approached, the rewards may be exponential. Auriga's 12-year experience proves that when management and communication processes are clearly defined and coupled with strong local presence and execution, the benefits of outsourcing far outweigh the risks.

"We are excited to participate in this comprehensive program which will offer exceptional business and educational opportunities for exhibitors and attendees", said Sergei Riabov, Director of Business Development at Auriga, Inc. "The seminar and exhibition program is an excellent way to explore the benefits of cooperation between the technology industries of the U.S. and Russia. A member of several U.S. and Russian industry associations and a participant in the Russian-American Business Dialogue initiatives, Auriga has been actively involved in fostering U.S.-Russia business relations and cultivating technology cooperation."

CeBIT America will host the MARBC Russian Technology Pavilion that will feature an extensive display of Russian science and technology capabilities. A delegation from the Russian Federation, representing companies in the information technology and related technology industries, will participate in panel discussions and exhibit the latest advancements in Russian technology.
